Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about buying and selling wholesale liquidation with Southern Liquidation.

General
What is liquidation? +
Liquidation is the process by which retailers, manufacturers, and product owners sell off excess inventory quickly — usually at a significant discount. Products end up in liquidation for several reasons:
  • They are not selling well or are out of season
  • They were returned by customers
  • They are overstocked at a retailer's warehouse
  • The retailer is closing stores or clearing space for new inventory
These goods are typically sold for anywhere between 1% and 50% of their original retail value.
What can I do with liquidation merchandise? +
The opportunities are endless. Our customers buy liquidation merchandise for:
  • Starting or stocking a retail store or bin store
  • Selling on Amazon, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, or other online platforms
  • Running a side hustle or secondary income stream
  • Buying for personal use at a fraction of retail prices
  • Supplying flea markets, auctions, or liquidation stores
Do I need a license or permit to buy from Southern Liquidation? +
No special license or permit is required to purchase from us — we are open to the public. However, if you have a Sales Tax ID or are a registered business, please send your tax exemption certificate to hello@southernliquidation.com before completing your purchase.

Buying
What is a truckload program? +
A truckload program is a full semi-truck load of liquidation merchandise, typically containing 24-30 pallets of product. Truckloads are purchased as a complete unit and are ideal for resellers, bin stores, auction houses, or anyone who needs large quantities of inventory at wholesale pricing. Browse our current programs at southernliquidation.com/programs.
Are the products tested or inspected before sale? +
No — we do not test, inspect, or sort products before sale. All merchandise is sold AS-IS in its current condition as received from the source retailer. Photos shown in our listings are sample photos only. All sales are final.
What condition is the merchandise in? +
Merchandise condition varies by program and is clearly listed on each product page. Common conditions include:
  • Returns — customer returned items that may be opened, used, or damaged
  • Overstock — brand new items that were never sold
  • Salvage — items with damage, missing parts, or in poor condition
  • Returns / Overstock — a mix of both returned and new unsold items
What is a manifest and will I receive one? +
A manifest is a list of items included in a pallet or truckload. Some of our programs include a manifest and some do not. Where a manifest is provided, it is an estimate only and is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate.
